Why a blog? I have been asking myself this question since the first month of the year (2016), and I came up with answers like, “Just to challenge yourself, do something different from your usual self instead or sleeping and eating.” 😄Well, back then, this was a good enough reason to start a blog. However, I soon realized it was not, I couldn’t even come up with a name for the blog and the zeal to continue with it faded.
However, I have been going through a lot of growth recently. I have acquired more knowledge and know more now compared to the beginning of this year, and I now have a deeper and obligatory reason to start a blog. My local church pastor has been preaching about “living with the end in mind” and I realized that I have not been doing that. Also, a very good friend of mine, introduced a book by Rick Warren – “The purpose driven life – What on earth am I here for?” which I STRONGLY RECOMMEND to everyone. We did a 42 days study session on this with a couple of others friends, and that has changed my belief and faith. I gained an eternal perspective and learned about the power of intentionality from the study session. The book talks about God’s five purposes for our lives – Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry (Service) and Mission (Evangelism).
Thus, this blog is my mission to the world and my platform for sharing God’s word and love to others. In this century, we have a lot of privileges and the vast usefulness of the internet is one of them, so why not use it to promote God’s eternal family and kingdom.
I am not perfect. I am a growing Christian, a work in progress, and it gets better every day. I have grown a lot by going to church more, meeting up with other members of God’s family, through service, Bible studies or Christain book studies and of course my personal time with Abba Father. I realized that doing these has helped me to grow a lot and most importantly has helped me to remain in God’s family. However, I do not want to grow alone; I will like many people also to belong, grow, go out and remain in God’s family.
“Growing God’s Eternal Family” blog is my intentional mission. Just as I am growing daily by interacting and meeting up with other members of God’s family at my local church, I will love to use this blog as a platform to bring unbelievers into God’s family while encouraging other believers to grow in their relationship with God.
As Christians and disciples of Christ, we have a mission to, “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded us.” Matthew 28: 19 – 20 (NIV) – This is the great commission.
The great commandment is also imperative, given that fulfilling the great commission is indeed fulfilling the great commandment – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, … Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22: 37 -38 (NIV). The great commission is embedded in the great commandment.
The great commission – tell unbelievers and non-members of God’s family the good news and bring them to into his family. Everyone needs to belong to the family of God. If you were not needed in God’s family, you would not have been born at all. God created us all to belong to his family and fulfill his purposes for our lives in his family. Thus, as a believer who knows this, it will be a selfish and wicked act to withhold the truth – the good news to myself and family even when I see someone heading for destruction and hell.
Once we know the truth, God expects us to share it with others. This is a great privilege — introducing others to Jesus, helping them discover their purpose, and preparing them for their eternal destiny.
The great commandment – love God and others. The Bible says, “If you love God, you will keep his commandments.” John 14:15 (ESV), and one of his commandments is to win souls, and if you love others, you will definitely share the good news with them and bring them to Jesus, because you know that he is the truth and the only way to the father.
Also, if I love you as a Christian to a fellow Christian, I will help you grow, by encouraging you and pulling you back to Christ when you get off the path, and you will do the same for me. The Bible says,
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near
Hebrew 10:25 (NLT)
After salvation, growth and producing fruits that remain in Christ is very important. Thus, we need to make stay strong in the Lord, take all the prunings and make intentional decisions to stay in God’s family forever and eternally. And one thing I have realized is, we can not do it alone. It’s obvious though. We are called a family of God. As a family, we are like a body and we are to help and encourage each other. Because “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, we all rejoice together.” 1 Corinthians 12:26 (ESV). We should make sure everyone stays on the narrow part and make heaven. Let’s create traffic on the narrow path. As a member of God’s family, I want to see you in heaven, which is why my goal is to help us belong, grow, go out and remain in God’s family forever by His grace.
Thus, in this ministry, we are going to win souls for Christ and we are going to help one another grow with love as an eternal family of God. You, me and backed up with God strength and grace. I said “we” because we are all needed to make this a success and fulfilling the great commission, commandment and growing the eternal family of God is a mission required of us all.
I will be sharing different inspirational, encouraging, some personal topics with you all as the Holy Spirit leads. I implore you to take the time to read through, with the hope that you will be blessed and your faith in God can continue to grow. And, If you are not a member yet, I am hoping that reading this blog will help you in making that decision to become a member of God’s eternal family.
Because not knowing God and becoming a member of his family will be missing the most important thing in life
1 Timothy 6: 21a (LB)
Out there in the world can be fun, but it is temporary, and a bigger and permanent reward awaits us. It’s easy to get off the narrow path, but with one another’s help and encouragement, we can keep everyone on the path. We are to help each other with our faith.
your faith will help me, and my faith will help you
Romans 1: 12 (NCV)
I mentioned earlier about my pastor’s preaching on “Living with the end in mind” and I read Pastor Rick Warren’s book titled “Purpose driven life.” Thus, I want to live life having in mind that one day I will stand before God and will be asked if I carried out His commandments and lived life fulfilling His purpose for my life? And I definitely want to be able to say YES, I DID!!! And I want to hear WELL DONE, MY FAITHFUL SERVANT. I believe you want to hear that too. Thus, you can also help by telling others about this blog, both your believer and unbeliever friends. This way we can all partake in fulfilling the great commission, commandment and growing God’s eternal family. Also, Your thoughtful comments, deeper insights, constructive criticism and most importantly, your prayers will be highly appreciated.
Shalom, God bless!
