I was on Instagram and I saw a question, “What would you do if you had 2 years left on earth?”
There was a wide range of answers. Some were reasonable, some wild and some outright crazy. However, one particular answer caught my attention. I don’t know if it was due to the mention of my Lord Jesus Christ or the absurdity of the context in which His name was mentioned. Anyways, my attention was grabbed.
The answer was, “I would give my life to Jesus Christ.”
I raised a brow and with all the fiber of my being I wish I could pull the person’s ears and scream into it, “Give your life to Jesus NOW, don’t wait till the last 2 years of your life?”
Then I thought, “Wow, so this person is intentionally rejecting Jesus and postponing his/her salvation until the last 2 years on earth?” I mean it’s one thing to unintentionally reject Christ because of ignorance and unbelief but another to intentionally reject him knowing fully well you should accept him.
I truly just don’t understand.
Again I wondered, “How will this person know his/her last 2 years on earth?”
Fine! Maybe I read too much into the question and the answer. I can get quite deep and critical sometimes.
Nevertheless, we humans can be so funny. You know we act like we control the privilege and grace of waking up to another day. So, we have the effrontery of scheduling our salvation at our own convenience.
We want to eat our cake and still have it. We want to party, live and dine in the world and finally in our old, cane walking, wrinkle looking, voice shaking age we give our remnant self to Jesus like he is just another check off on our bucket list.
Jesus wants ALL of us. The young and the old you. The present you and you in the last two years of your life even till the last second of your life.
King David said to God in Psalm 90:12, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” It is wisdom to know that our days on earth are numbered. It is wisdom to do NOW what you intend to do in the last two years of your life. Why? Because you might already be in the last two years of your life.
I hear someone say, “God Forbid.”
I am not wishing you dead my friend, just saying the truth.
This reminds me of a story in Luke 12: 13-21. A rich man worked so hard and his farm yielded a great harvest. So he decided to gather all his harvest and stored it up in his barn. Then he said to himself, “I have plenty of grain laid up for many years. I’ll life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
In the same manner, it is foolish to think, “I am gonna enjoy my life in the world and later in life, I’ll come to Jesus.” Sweetheart, what if there’s no later?
So if you are yet to accept Jesus into your life, my dear don’t procrastinate that any longer.
There’s no life but death in the world and it leads to hell. But in Jesus, we find life, purpose, identity, and most importantly eternal life in Heaven.
There’s so much God wants to do in and through you, don’t waste another minute.
Make a decision today. Accept Jesus’ INVITATION.
