It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this, I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice” ___ Philippians 1:15-18.
The words above from Apostle Paul got me thinking. It is true that at a time in our lives many of us if not all have done something out of a selfish desire and ambition and tagged God’s name to it, hoping that he will bless it. But God is so great that even in our selfish ambitions, He will always turn it out for God and get his glory.
Many of us started sharing the gospel, only to get the respect and popularity of a preacher but unknowingly, we are doing exactly what God intends for us to do anyway.
Many went to school and majored in course and careers for selfish ambitions, but God works it out anyways and gets his glory.
What does it matter?
What does it matter if your intentions were not pure?
Although it would be great if our intentions were pure and righteous.
But what I have realized is, God will continue to prune and transform you and what you started for your glory, you will begin to do for His glory.
I wonder how many times God smiled and laughed when we set out to do something purely out of selfish ambitions and says, “Child, What does it matter? I’ve got it all under control.”
It’s a great thing to know that our selfish ambitions are not powerful enough to thwarts God’s plans for our lives, He works it all together for good, all to His glory.
