God is my Trust

One of my biggest pet peeves is dishonesty.
I just detest it.
And it really hurts.
The closer the relationship the more the hurt.

So, I really battled with trust issues last year (2021) and I spoke to God a lot about this.
One of the things I realized was that I was putting so much more trust in people than I was putting in God.
The Bible never told us to trust people. We are told to love them with full knowledge that the love might not be reciprocated and trust could be broken. We trust people at our own risk.
However, numerous times, we are told to trust God.
So, I am learning to trust God and love humans.

1 Corinthians 13 says that Love trusts or believes all things.
I was starting to wonder if that trust (or belief) is in the other fellow or trust that’s grounded in God’s faithfulness.

I searched through various Bible translations and the MSG translation did justice to it. There it was, “Love trusts God always.” 1 corinthians 13:3-7.

Trust doesn’t birth love.
Rather Love births trust (and that trust should be secured in God optimally).
Love shouldn’t limit itself even when there isn’t trust.
God loved us before we ever trusted him.

I shouldn’t have to trust you to love you.
I mean it makes absolute sense because I’m commanded to love my enemies (I definitely don’t trust them).

I’m trusting that God’s got me even if my trust and love are betrayed by others. If I’m hurt & offended by others, I’ll be comforted by God. If I’m abandoned by others, God will never leave me.

God’s got me!
God is my TRUST.

I’m also learning that I don’t have the time or luxury to dwell in offense or wrap myself with trust issues. I’ve got an assignment here on earth to BE God’s love and light to others and I can’t effectively do that if I’m constantly looking over my shoulder or screening people to identify who can be trusted or not.

I want to love people.
I want to live a life of LOVE.

Trusting God ultimately
Loving God ultimately
And
Love others ultimately above the need to trust them.

God is my TRUST.
