As I read through the exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt, I started to get frustrated at some point. I wondered,
“God, why wouldn’t you just yank out the Israelites from Egypt without all this rig-ma-rolling with Pharaoh? God, why were you playing with Pharaoh? This was a wicked man. He promised to release the Israelites after each plague, yet he changed his mind. You already know this Lord. Why?!!!“
God said,
“Esther, the battle was no longer the Israelites’. It was my battle, and I fought it my way, at my own pace, and for my Glory.
“And I’ll use Pharaoh and his army to put my Glory on display. Then the Egyptians will realize that I am God.” (Exodus 14:4 MSG).
I must make a mockery of other gods. I must leave a lasting impact on the house of Pharoah so he and the whole Earth will know that I am the GOD of Israel (Exodus 9:15-16). The only living God.
I will multiply Pharaoh’s already hardened and stubborn heart so that the signs of my presence and great acts of judgment can multiply in the land of Egypt (Exodus 11:9).
You know that by now, I could have struck you and your people with deadly disease, and there would be nothing left of you, not a trace. But for one reason only, I’ve kept you on your feet: To make you recognize my power so that my reputation spreads all over the Earth (Exodus 9:15-16 MSG).
Egypt must know that the only TRUE MASTER & GOD of Israel is here, and He’s not to be toyed with. I must expose the selfishness and wickedness of Pharaoh to his own people. They must see how little he cares about them as their ruler and how he consistently put them in danger, even letting their firstborn die because of his foolish pride and stubbornness. They must see the true wicked nature of their god.”
Egyptians, Philistines, Edomites, Moabites, Canaanites, and other nations must know the God of Isreal (Exodus 15: 14-15) and tremble in fear.
I must make sure my people come out of this slavery unscathed and enriched. And finally, I must ensure that you see the destruction of the wicked with your eyes so you can rest assured that this salvation from your enemies is eternal, and you shall see them no more.
You will know that you have a God who is jealous for you, and you can trust him. I will ensure to give you a story which you can tell to your children and the world for my Glory (Exodus 10: 1-2)
I am your God and will bring you out with a mighty hand (Exodus 13:16). I will go all out for you.”
Friends, I don’t know the details of your story and situation. It might not be 430 years of slavery like the Israelites, but you might be in a situation you do not like and would like to be out of either physically, mentally, spiritually, or financially.
Whatever the situation, you probably wonder, “God, why can’t you just bring me out of this situation instantaneously? This freedom and deliverance is taking too long.”
I want to encourage you that God will surely save you.
He is working on it.
Like the Israelites, He will give you a beautiful story for His Glory.
Your testimony will give hope and life to others.
He’s going to be right on time.
He will silence and make a mockery of every other false god (s) in your life.
He alone is and will be God in your life.
And now to him who can keep you on your feet, standing tall in his bright presence, fresh and celebrating—to our one God, our only Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Master, be Glory, majesty, strength, and rule before all time, and now, and to the end of all time. Yes. AMEN (Jude 1:24-25 MSG).
