2 Corinthians 5:17 -“ If ANYONE is in Christ, he (she) is a new creation. The old is gone, the new has come.”
I want to emphasize on “ANYONE” in the Bible verse above because many of us are still living in false bondage of our past lives even after we give our lives to Christ. We continue to hold on to some regrets, pain, and guilt. We have thoughts like this, “I don’t think God has forgiven me yet, my sins were so big, and I was a terrible person.” We begin to hold pity parties for our past lives, and we refuse to move on. Then we go on comparing our lives to others. “Oh that person is so bold, and on fire for God, I am sure she doesn’t have a shameful past like me, she probably grew up in a Christian family.” And we go on and on.
However, the Bible verse above says, “If ANYONE is in Christ, he (she) is a new creation.” You are in Christ now, and your past doesn’t matter anymore. It doesn’t matter if you were born into a Christian family or not; you murdered in the past, you were involved in any sexual immortality, stole, lied, gossiped, disobeyed your parents, etc. Your background and the kinds of sin you committed doesn’t matter. SIN is SIN. There’s no big or small sin. And the same blood of Jesus Christ that washed away my sins of sexual immorality and all kinds of sins I was involved in in the past is the same one that washed away your sins. So, no matter how big you think your sin was, Christ’s blood has got that covered. You had run to him and accepted him as yours; he has also accepted you as his. So, NO-ONE, I repeat, NO-ONE can condemn you or judge you for your past (Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus – Romans 8:1).
Darling, the OLD is gone, the NEW has come. You have been born again. God has totally forgiven you, and he loves you completely. The Bible says in Psalm 103:11, ” As far as the east from the west, so far does he remove our sins from us.”
So, next time the devil comes in your thoughts or in the form of a person to remind or judge you with your past, remember that is a BIG lie from the pit of hell. You aren’t that person anymore. That’s the past, and the good thing about a past is, it’s in the past. You can’t go back to change it, and God doesn’t hold that against you anymore, so why waste time thinking about it? Accept the freedom Christ has given to you; he bought this freedom with his life, so you can have LIFE and be free from the bondage of Satan. So grab that life and freedom and let go of your past and chains. You MUST take the freedom Christ has given you from your HEAD to your HEART and be CERTAIN of it.
It is time to stop the pity party, the guilty feelings, regrets and move forward while looking ahead (Philippians 3:16). God needs you to take off all the limits you have placed on yourself and dwell entirely in his purpose for your life. Don’t spend another couple of years wondering if God has forgiven you (that is the devil’s scheme to hold you back), accept your freedom, declare it, rejoice in it and live in it. Prepare for a new future with Christ.
Lots of Love❤️❤️❤️
God bless
