The Power of Oneness

We can learn a valuable lesson from the story of the Tower of Babel. A lesson on oneness and unity. It is definite that we were not created to be an island. We were created to go through life together as ONE people of God’s family.

See, the reason why the people who were building the tower of Babel were scattered was not just because of their evil, prideful intent and rebellion but because of the unity and oneness they had. The spoke the same language. They could understand one another and thus this facilitated their evil actions.

Genesis 11: 6 says, Look! He said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!” Bolded emphasis added.

Language, as used here, means the same speech. However, people who speak different languages (speech) can still have the same language (goal). What I mean by that is, even if we have people who speak different languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Hangul, etc., They can all still come together for one goal and speak the same language of love, passion, dream, faith, creativity, etc., then nothing will be impossible for them. Because we become one through the language we speak.

This can also be applied to marriage. Most marriages don’t work out because the couples still see each other as different entities. They are yet to start seeing each other as one. Thus, they are not speaking the same language. The husband does selfish things that will hurt the wife because he doesn’t consider the wife a part of him and same goes for the wife.

Confusion and different interests arise and they fight and might end up separating because they never truly became one through marriage as Genesis 2: 24 says –  “ …a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife, and they become one person.”

We also see that many friendships work out despite the different backgrounds and characters because the friends are gradually getting to know one another and growing to become one. They start to finish each other’s sentences and know what the other person likes or dislikes.

Life is so much better when we go through it together as one. We become unstoppable. A bond the enemy cannot penetrate or break and all the glory of God

The people building the tower of Babel had unity, oneness and same language but it was not the glory of God thus they had to be divided.

Let all that we do, be to the glory of God Almighty.

God Bless you.
