Paul was addressing the Corinthians regarding who was changing their minds about the gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because some people among them started spreading the words that resurrection is not real and the dead people will never come back to life again and Paul had to preach to them again and supported the truth that “Resurrection is real.”
He argued that if the resurrection is not real, then Christ must still be dead and if He is still dead then the preaching of the gospel, persecution, and sufferings for the sake of the gospel, baptism, Christianity, our trust & hope in God and Jesus’ second coming are all vain. Because in that case, we are all literally doomed.
Finally, he told them in 1 Corinthians 15:33-34a, “ Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” That is, don’t let these people deceive you and get you to keep sinning.
I love the way, The Living Bible puts it, “Don’t be fooled by those who say such things. If you listen to them you will start acting like them. Get some sense and quit your sinning…”
So, darling, you have also got to check your circle, who are the people whispering in your ears and telling you to your face that your faith and believe in God is vain despite all you’ve said to change their minds? Then it is time to cut off such companies. You might say that all they are saying and how they are acting is not affecting you and it doesn’t really matter. However, darling a constant drop of water will eventually fill a bucket. Same way, constant words of deceit/ disbelief and sinful acts will eventually fill you up and you might just start believing their lies, acting like them again and find yourself back in the world.
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! (1 Corinthians 10:12) and anything or anyone that will drag you back into the world is definitely not worth it. Cut it off!
Don’t go to hell for nobody. Hold on to your faith and surround yourself with other children of God.
God Bless
