Who will give to me in return?

Are you that friend who is always giving, helping, praying but you never get anything in return and you are wondering, “Who’s gonna help me? Do I keep being friends with that person? It’s hard for me to keep pouring out but never receiving. What do I do? Who will give to me in return?”

Hey darling, sit down and let’s address that issue today.

Let me start by saying that I totally understand your standpoint and it would be great to just quit that friendship and look for friends that would appreciate you more and give back to you too. But the thing is you might never find such friends. Not because you don’t deserve such friends but due to our nature as humans, many prefer to receive than give even though the Bible states clearly that it is more blessed to give than it is to receive (Acts 20:35). So it’s gonna be hard to find that wonderful friend like you who want to give too.

But I know it can be frustrating and you just wish someone will reciprocate the love back to you. So today I want to turn your sight towards the one person you can always count on to do just that. In fact, He fills you up, so you can you can go back to your friends and pour out.

He is your Lord, God, Redeemer, counselor, savior, father and FRIEND. Yes, darling, you do have a friend who gives to you lavishly without asking for anything in return.

And He is calling you to be more like him. Be a cheerful giver. Give your time, love, money, prayer, godly counsels, knowledge, etc without waiting for someone to do the same for you.

I will also like us to consider this, could it be that giving is one of your spiritual gifts? Yes, you heard me. Giving is a spiritual gift.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully – Romans 12: 6-8

Many have been asking and searching for their gifts while it literally staring them in the face. I know giving seems like a lower gift compared to prophesy, healing, teaching and you want those kinds of gifts. But darling, no gift is superior or inferior to another. Givers in the body of Christ are very much needed as the teachers, healers, and prophets, etc.

So, think about it, could giving be one of your spiritual gifts.

Also, Our God is so so good. And since we are a body in Christ, He might have placed and graced you to be in someone’s life as the helper, the giver, the encourager. And if you slow down enough to see and think about it, somehow God has always sustained you. He continues to fill you up so you can pour out. He continues to help and bless you so you can be a blessing. It sucks when it’s not coming tangibly from someone else but what blessings is better than the one that comes from God. So darling keep loving, helping, blessing, giving, praying, etc, whether it is deserved or not.

You have a friend above who refills you everytime you give out. If you decide to stop giving and keep it all to yourself, then God can’t refill you. You need to pour out to be filled again.  So keep giving GENEROUSLY

Don’t let the enemy get into your head telling you that the people around you are selfish and don’t want to give you in return. Always remember that you are blessed so you can be a blessing to others and as long as God keeps blessing you, don’t stop being a blessing in all areas. And our spiritual gifts are not to be kept for ourselves but for the edification of the church, the body of Christ.

I will like to mention before we end this if you do have a relationship (aside from your spouse) that is literally draining you and is doing you more harm than good, then that might be a relationship you want to quit. But don’t be too hasty. Talk to God, pray about it and God will surely tell you what to do.

God bless you.

You are Eternally Loved.
