This is one of my all-time favorite prayers. “Father, may my light shine before men that they may see my good works and glorify you. May my life magnify your glory, Lord.”
But recently, I have been convicted to also pray this for others too. This is one comparison killing prayer.
When we realize that God wants all his children’s lives to reflect and magnify his glory, we won’t go around comparing our lives to that of others or get jealous of others when they are shining their lights and prospering in all their ways because we know that brings glory to God and through their lives many are saved.
We ought to pray that God will grant them the strength to continue to put their faith into good works and may they continue to shine their lights and salt the earth and bring glory to God Almighty.
So, put someone’s name aside yours in that blank.
For example, “Father, may Nancy’s light so shine before men, that they may see her good works, and glorify you. May Her life magnify your glory.”
Pray for others lights to shine.
You can’t share the gospel alone all over the world. We need everyone’s light to shine and light up the world. The whole church is needed. Also, pray for the church’s light to keep shining too and bring glory to our Father in heaven.
God Bless
You are Eternally Loved.
