You are not Mediocre!

YOU ARE NOT A MEDIOCRE-3

I was going to share something different this week on Thursday Thoughts and Truths with GGEF ( #TTTwithGGEF) but the Holy Spirit has been putting on my mind the topic of mediocrity.

We are in a new month and I am not really concerned about how terrific or not-so-good last month was or not for you. Because it’s gone and we can’t go back to change things around. However, it’s not too late to refuse a life of mediocrity in this month. We are already in the half month of the year and you are NOT going to end this year without experiencing the changing and renewing power of God in your life.

So, first, what does the word “Mediocre” mean?  According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, “of moderate or low quality, value, ability, or performance:  ordinary, so-so.” So, simply something that is “average”.

I will share with you a few Bible Verses to prove to you that God has not created you to be mediocre, to be just average and there. He has created you for a purpose that’s bigger than the best thing you have ever imagined in your life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Notice family, it says the old has gone and the new has come. When many people read this scripture they limit it to the past ungodly events in their lives. But this Bible Verse is way deeper than that. Everything that was in you before you came to Christ is gone and replaced with the life of Christ in you.

And sweetheart, we can definitely say that Christ did not live a life of mediocrity. So why should you live as one especially now that his Spirit lives in you?

Philippians 2:5 (KJV), It says, “ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

You have the mind of Christ now, use it to the fullest.

You were not born again to be born into mediocrity. God did not take you from the world so you can continue to operate with the mindset of the world in his family. NO! You are different now. You are a son/daughter of the Most-High God. Act like one! God doesn’t do average. He does not operate with average people. How do I know this?

If we look at the people in the Bible all the way from Genesis to Revelation – Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel), Joseph, Moses, Samuel, The prophets, David, Jesus, Peter, John, Paul, etc. I definitely do not see any form of mediocrity in these people.  Also, look around you, the great and wonderful children of God that you know, do they seem average to you? God might have met you in your averageness, but he doesn’t leave us there.

Paul said in 2 Timothy 4: 7, “I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith.”

My friend, you CANNOT fight the good fight of faith and win the race in Mediocrity.

You must break out of your comfort zone. Many Christians, after salvation, are doing absolutely NOTHING. They are just sitting and going about their average life, working at that job they do not love and God hasn’t called them to do and waiting for Jesus to come. They are ordinary Christians. “Why are you a Christian? Because I said the salvation prayer and now I go to church every Sunday.” Really! They never grew. They have remained a 1 day old Christian since they gave their life to Christ. They refused to tap into the anointing, authority, and power in the life of Christ.

You have been saved, so you can go out and reach out to the lost souls and make a huge difference in this world. You have been born in this generation for a reason. You were born for such as time as this. So why are you sitting around doing, nothing while you watch others doing their best living for God?

Matthew 5: 13 – 14 tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

You are to spread sweetness over this bitter world, instead, you are losing your taste by sitting in one corner. You are also called to light up this world that loves darkness so much, yet you intentionally dim your light and hide under the bed. Darling, that is not the kind of life our Heavenly Father wants for you.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) say, ““For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

You are a perfect masterpiece of God. And am sure you know that our God doesn’t do cheap. With God, there’s no such thing as Mediocre (Average) Masterpiece.

Isaiah 43:1-2 (MSG) says, “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine.  When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.  When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.  When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—Because I am God, your personal God.”

Why are you still dragging your feet? Why are you scared? The Lord is telling you not to be afraid. He is your personal God. And if God is for you, no one can be against you (1John 4: 4b)

1 Peter 2:9 (MSG) says, “But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”

Oh, eternal family, I love this one! You have been chosen personally by God not men. He called and ordained you for his work. You were nothing, he made you something. You were rejected but he accepted you. So, where exactly did you get the idea that you are “just an average” person from? Who told you that lie?

Jeremiah 1:5 (Amp) says, – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Oh sweetheart, before all the biology and chemistry of forming your embryo even thought of coming together, God knew you already. He already had chosen and approved of you. He already separated you and set your apart from all mediocrity into his extraordinary and mighty works.

Romans 12:2 (Amp) says – “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”

My friend, you must always remember that though you are in the world, you are not of this world. You are a SPIRITUAL BEING going through an earthly experience. You are different from this world. You have to start thinking like that. Renew your mind, get it right, only then will you begin to live in the perfect will of God for you.

Philippians 4:13 (ESV) – “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

You know what the trademark of this world is? IMPOSSIBILITY. “There’s no way h/she can do that. It is never going to be possible….” The world has forgotten that with Christ EVERYTHING is possible. What exactly is too much for our God to do? NOTHING! What is that big dream that you had/have, that you shared with someone and they discouraged you by saying that it is not possible, so you have decided to just be mediocre. My dear, that is a big lie from the pit of hell. We serve a God with unlimited authority and powers. He is your strength, he is your portion and through him, ALL is POSSIBLE.

I could go on and on to prove to you that you are not at your best yet. You are not at God’s best for you yet. I personally believe that I am not at God’s best for me yet and I excitedly and passionately continue to follow him as he leads me to the purpose and plans he has for me. I don’t know about you but I refuse to be a victim of mediocrity. I refused to be called, “just that girl” over there. I am a daughter, a proud daughter of God. My father is the King of all Kings and that makes me a Princess of all Princesses. So tell me, why should a princess of God live in mediocrity when I can soar like an eagle, flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon? Why should I be an ordinary Christian, when I can operate under the anointing of the holy spirit and the power/authority of Jesus and win many souls for Christ.

You must know your identity in Christ. And let me spare you one worry, mediocrity is not one of your identity in Christ. Don’t allow the world to define you, and don’t you even try to define yourself. Allow God to define you.

Boast in God and live for his glory in EVERYTHING you do.
