WHO YOU ARE: A Sign of God’s Existence

While I was preparing for this post, I had on my mind fragments of what the Holy Spirit was leading me to write. I understood the message but I was having challenges of what title to give to it and how it’s content should be written. However glory be to God, the Holy Spirit did it and I came across a status that says – “You are a sign of God’s existence.”

Yes, that’s it!

I felt like the status writer knew the word I needed at that point in time. It felt perfect.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:27 KJV).

I believe strongly that beyond any scientific research on fertilization; beyond whatever means you came through at birth; beyond whatever name you were given; God created you in His own image – That is who you are, a sign that there is a God. You weren’t a mistake because God never makes mistake. You were created because you mean something.

As a child, when I am asked to write a composition about MYSELF, I would write down a long list like this –

  • My name is Ifedolapo Ajakaiye
  • I am a girl
  • I attend Radiant international school
  • I am in primary 4
  • I am short
  • I am dark in complexion
  • My best friend is Esther
  • My best food is Rice
  • My best color is pink
  • My pet is a dog
  • I love myself because I am beautiful

It is hilarious to think that I had once upon a time written a self-description like this.

Now, if I am asked to write a description of  MYSELF, I will simply write –

“I am created in God’s image, His beauty is in me, there is nothing that can harm me because I am a child of God”.

That is who I am.

To be confident about who you are, you need to know, understand and embrace whose you are.

So, when life throws challenges, distress, failure, etc., at your feet and you begin to feel like all hope is lost. Don’t get frustrated neither forget who you are. Just remember that the person you are representing, whose you are and whose identity you possess is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

His name is Jesus, the Almighty. He (God) is the one who makes a way where there seems to be no way (Psalm 136:13).

The Bible made me understand that God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). He made the earth which was without form, void, and filled with darkness a beautiful earth (Genesis 1:2-25). Then, He (God) said;

“Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping that creepeth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:26 KJV)

Note the part that says “over all the earth, meaning He didn’t only make us a sign of His (God) existence, He (God) also gave unto us dominion.

“It is a thing of honor to know that we do not only possess God’s identity, we also possess His Authority”.

In the book of Luke, Jesus aside his twelve disciples, appointed seventy others also to carry on with the preaching of the gospel. Then, the seventy that were appointed returned realizing the identity and authority they possess.

“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name  – Luke 10:17).

Jesus answered them saying -:

“Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19 KJV).

That situation/circumstance have no power over you. That sickness/disease/discomfort have no power over you. No one can make you feel less important. No one has the power to bring you down.

You are not to be touched.

You are not an empty vessel.

You carry the Holy Spirit of God in you.

The power/authority has already been given unto you. You only need to realize and make use of it. Be rest assured that God whose identity you possess is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).

Beloved, realize who you are today, confess your identity daily and have dominion over all.

Yes!    You are that important!    Live like it!
