Knowing His Voice

“Have you ever heard God speak to you audibly? Like did you really hear his voice?”
Many of us ask these questions when someone says, “God told me, or the Holy Spirit told me…” We wonder, “How did you hear him?”

I want to start by letting you know that God doesn’t want to shout unless he has to. Why should he? He is living right inside of you, so why should he have to shout to talk to you?
In the Old Testament days, the people didn’t have the Holy Spirit living right inside of them since Jesus had not come yet, so he had to speak with an audible voice, appear to them in various forms and in dreams. But he currently lives in you, He should not have to shout to speak with you.

God probably will only speak audibly to you if it’s urgent or you are so stubborn and disobedient and he’s gotta get your attention. Aside from that, he loves to speak in a still small voice because it shows INTIMACY.

Even when he speaks through the Bible, someone else, dreams, vision, sermons, etc., his voice remains very still and you will only hear it if you’re intimate and sensitive to his voice. That’s why two people can listen to the same sermon and one hears it & the other doesn’t.
You don’t have to earn hearing God, it’s part of the Christian deal. He is your Father, he’s gonna talk to you. Even before you got saved, he was speaking and he is speaking even more now that you are in Him. Hearing and knowing his voice depends on you.
To hear a voice that still, get intimate. God is speaking but you just can’t tell it’s him because you don’t KNOW his voice. Get Closer. 

How do I know & hear His voice?

START TALKING to the Holy Spirit & LISTEN for his response.
Talk, He hears and He will respond.
Talk to him about everything, anything, again, again, again and again until you it becomes a part of you.
Also, it can’t be overemphasized, READ THE BIBLE. Your Bible is God’s word on paper or your phone. And when you are reading, invite the Holy Spirit to speak and teach you the Word.
You will begin to hear & know what his voice sounds like.
